Description

This is a fun little souvenir keychain, made of light-weight zinc or zinc alloy. It is from the Las Vegas Hotel & Casino the SILVERBIRD which operated from 1977-1981.

The Silverbird Casino was originally the THUNDERBIRD HOTEL, which is the fourth hotel to have been built (in 1949) on the Strip when Las Vegas we created. It kept the Thunderbird Hotel name until it changed ownership to Major Riddle (partner in the DUNES) in 1977 and operated under the name Silverbird. It sold for $3 Million and he kept it until 1981 when he sold it to Ed Torress for $3 Million. Torres renamed it EL RANCHO.

This classic and historic Hotel and Casino operated until 1992 when it permanently closed. In the year 2000 it was imploded and now houses the Turnberry Place Condominiums.
