Rutilated Quartz is unique. Quartz is one of the most abundant minerals found on earth, but Rutilated Quartz is a varitey of Quartz in which long needle-like forms of rutile are created naturally within the Quartz. These rutile enclosures encased in the mineral resemble colorful fibers. One of the most distinctive features of Rutilated Quartz is that no two stones are ever exactly alike; each stone is unique and special. This kind of quartz stone is said to refract more light than any other mineral.
This ring is even more unique, in that the quartz has been cut and faceted in a traditional Emerald cut stone. If you look at all the images in the gallery of this ring, you will notice just how clear the stone is. And then to make it even more interesting, two gold coils embellish each side of the stone.
The entire ring is made by hand from a master jeweler in Turkey. This ring is unique because the jeweler uses only high karat gold, but coats the gold over hand-made sterling silver (this process being called 'vermeil'), so it keeps the ring very affordable.
For each piece, the same jeweler hand-hammers the band and hand-sets the stones, so each piece is truly one of a kind. This ring is 24k gold over sterling.
