This silver-plated playing card box is in its original state, which is very good considering it is from the 1930's. There are surface scratches on the bottom and some on the top, but the wood is not rotten or split, so you could still use it to hold playing cards. Also, a monogram in the corner would look fantastic!
The base is stamped with "Union Air Usa 202". We tried to research more about this mark but did not come up with much, except that it is most likely an American military related product. The only other item we have seen produced by this company is a silver-plate collapsible measuring cup, which looks like it might of also been used for military purposes.
We think the art deco styling of the box is really handsome and would make a great gift for anyone who likes American history -- or poker and gin-rummy.
