This 'silver' and glass covered dish is one of the most unique and unusual pieces we've seen in this genre. It has a decorated top, which is etched/embossed with floral designs, and the bottom of the bowl is glass, which is covered/encased (permanently) in the metal as well.
This bowl has the popular Art Noveau Floral design.
The bottom is signed GRAMMES. Grammes is the name of the Allentown, PA metal company, L.F. Grammes & Son. They were in business from the 1800's to 1960. They also produced Metal Machinery and safety devices, and all sorts of office equipment and supplies to steel and iron industries. One of their Trade Catalogs is part of the permanent collection of the Trade Literature at the American History Museum Library at the Smithsonian Institution Library.
