This is a great old medal from Boston, MA honoring the Marine Corps. The ribbon is silk and has the United States of America's colours of Red, White and Blue. The medal itself is made of a gold-tone metal and shows the Marine's symbol on the front with the words SEMPER FIDELIS- MARINE CORPS LEAGUE in red enamel on the face. The back of the medal has the makers mark of ROBBINS CO. ATTLESBORO stamped on the bottom.
On top of the silk ribbon is a greatly detailed gold-tone bar, with the city of Boston in repoussé along the top complete with notable city buildings, ships, and even Native Americans. There is a space for the recipients name and the city name BOSTON below that.
DIMENSIONS: Medal diameter is 1⅛" and the ribbon is 1¼" x 1⅝" with the total length including ribbon and top bar being 4⅛" . See all photos in gallery to view condition.
