This is a great old medal from France honoring A. Bastien with the date 1942 below. The ribbon is grosgrain and has the country's colours of red, white and blue. The medal itself is made of a white metal and and shows a hand gripping a lever on the face. The hand is made with incredible detail, as you are able to see veins and muscles in the arm and fingernails on the fingers.
The back of the medal has the words MEDAILLE DES CHEMINOTS / RF printed on it with a tiny stamp of CM FAVRE-BERTIN on it, most likely the maker of the medal. In the middle of the medallion on the back is a decorative "F" with a "N".
DIMENSIONS: Medal diameter is 1¼" and the ribbon is 2¼" x 1⅜" with the total length including ribbon being 3¾" long. See all photos in gallery to view condition.
