This exquisite shoe is from China circa 1900 and is a beautiful example of the Lotus shoe that women would wear with bounded feet. Holding this shoe in your hand, it is amazing to think of a woman's foot fitting inside it!
This shoe is cotton with hand-embroidered cotton thread designs and a covered wooden heel. It was most likely worn in a large city of China and has fraying around some of the trim, please look at Gallery. This makes a fun conversation piece. Place it on a table where people can pick it up! Its a marvel to hold!
DIMENSIONS: From toe to heel: approximately 5½" long, from toe to ankle: about 7 ¼" long. Width: ¼" at point; about 1½" at foot opening. Height: ¾" at toe, 4⅜" at foot opening (this is taken with the shoe standing on surface, including heel height which is approximately ⅝" high).
PLEASE MAKE NOTE OF MEASUREMENTS, AND E-MAIL OR CALL IF YOU HAVE ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS ABOUT SIZE OR CONDITION.
